Only a suggestion . . . you seem to be changing a lot of things and
introducing yet another variable could make things worse.

After 2 weeks of trying to get 2.6.32rc8 and 2.6.32.8 (kernel.org) working
and once I got a working kernel (2.6.32.7 from buserror) . . . I said to
myself, "I will not change the kernel again UNLESS there is something
broken in it that I absolutely need".

No, I was using my own rootfs, with 2.6.32.7, as per the tutorial in the
Wiki.

My understanding is (in your case) . . . the rootfs (Qtopia) has to be
built using kernel modules generated from the 2.6.32.7 kernel sources.

As far as I am aware no one has done that.

What doesn't work in 2.6.32.2 from the downloads page?

qtopia 2.6.32.2 work fine with my board, but i thinkinq that was possible
to replace kernel 2.6.32.2 by 2.6.32.7 with fs root_qtopia-128M.img.

It is possible.  Judging from previous posts I got the impression is was
