writing new program for mini2440

Hi,
   I tried few sample program given with mini2440 kit.
   I compile it using gcc arm linux compiler,I got o-file, I run it on
board it work fine.
   But now I want program GPIO. on given board.
   How do I configure those pins? How to make drivers for that?
   Please suggest me some method for configuring device pins and developing
kerenel program for board.
