mini2440 bios list is not getting displayed

Hi,

We have started working on a mini2440 board which already has WinCE on it.
But we need to install linux for our project. So we referred to the manual
and tried to install linux as per directions. The Com:3,115200,USB:OK is
displayed. but while we connect using DNW, we dont get any list on the
screen even after we click on the reset button.

We tried jtagging the board. we used version hjtag v1.0.0 which didnt work
with the board. then we tried using v0.4.4. it seemed to detect the board
and we followed procedure as on the doc jtagging the NOR. But still this
problem doesnt seem to be solved.

Could someone pls help us sort this issue. We need to implement our work
soon and we got very less time to finish it.

Which type of NOR is on the board? I have the same problem with NOR chip
S29AL016J70I02.

I tried the FriendlyArm TTL to RS232 converter connected on CON1 of
Mini2440 with the same result. So it is not a failure of the MAX2332 on
board, but i am not shure if the CPU's UARTS working.

JTagging this NOR type is possible with H-JTAG 2.x, but did not solve my
problem.

Choose S29AL016JB or S29AL016MB from Spanion as NOR Flash.

After flashing the USB Port is reported as ok by DNW, which indicates that
supervivi is ok, but i have no output on console. So i think the hardware
is broken.

My NOR is S29AL016J70TFI02 as yours.

I got the board as a used one from internet. The original seller was
ShenVol, www.embedunion.com.

On the backside of PCB is unlike other Mini2440 a print "J33856m4".

But i do have another doubt. There are different methods of jtagging
described in different blogs. Some say, it should be in Nor mode. In
another site, i read it should be in Nand.
Do u have any idea as to which is the correct procedure.?

The Mini2440's NOR contains the BIOS supervivi. It is used for maintaining
the NAND and flashing bootloader, kernel and rootfs in NAND over USB or
TFTP. 

The original system contains supervivi with special parameters in NAND too.
Most user flashing u-boot or barebox as bootloader in NAND which are much
more comfortable. 

So flashing supervivi in the NOR is the right method. Just follow the
instructions in

I have same error mini2440 bios list is not getting displayed only display
a single garbage character . Help me..

Hey,
Have you tried using other COM Ports? For some reason, for us, the menu
only gets displayed using COM port 3, no other. Try it out.
