Access NOR flash while running

Good day,

I was wondering if there would be any way to access the NOR flash of the
FriendlyARM 2440 in Linux (while NAND is selected). Much like you are able
to format etc. the NAND flash while the NOR flash is selected.

The reason for this is so certain data can be saved even when the NAND
flash is formatted.

"Selecting" NAND or NOR does only select the source, the CPU should run
code from after reset. Nothing else.
The CPU has access to both flash memories all the time.

In Linux, how the nor FLASH  appears.
E.g. Environment partition appears as /dev/mtd1
