I am working on a tiny210 and want to install Fedora on it and the instructions say to select CDRom as the boot device in the bios except that the bios never shows up. How do I make the bios menu show up on the tiny210?
How to make bios appear for tiny210
The tiny210 doesn't have a 'bios' as such, there is a bootloader called superboot, either way, there is no support for a CD-rom on the tiny210, so there is no way you'll be booting a tiny210 from one. You probably need to try and build cross compiled fedora rootfs and boot from sd card.
Great, thanks. I was wondering about that even though the Tiny210 system development manual says I can install fedora via a CD after selecting it in the bios it didnt make sense since the bios doesnt show up.
I suspect that they're talking about installing fedora as the development OS on a PC :-) That's the only time I've seen fedora mentioned for the FA boards. They have 2 linux distros for the tiny210, there is a 2.6.35 kernel based image with qtopia as the desktop environment, and there is also a 2.6.35 kernel based ubuntu 12.04 image, both of those should be on the latest DVD on the friendlyarm ftp (see the bottom of the downloads section for login details).
My tiny210 is running friendlyarm linux 3.0.8 with QTopia which is definitely a cutdown version. The latest dvd only shows the friendlyarm image for burning via the SD card. The ftp site does have the files files to build the kernel but I cant currently access it since its maxed on users.
I found the ubuntu zImage file on their ftp site and it unfortunately is making my tiny210 reboot without starting linux.
I wish I could edit posts. I copied the zImage and FriendlyARM.ini file from the ubuntu/images_18714.rar file into the appropriate places on my SD card then went through the burn routine that I have been doing all day. It showed it burning the zImage and gave the "all done" 2 beeps, flip the switch over and reboot, the penguin shows then it reboots and the penguin shows, etc. I was able to get java working on the friendlyarm linux distro and am now trying to get my barcode reader working then I get to play with trying to get the HDMI port to show something different than whats on the screen.
