Ethernet on mini2440?

I compiled my own kernel anf rootfs with buildroot.

I don't get an ethernet connection, dhcp and ping are not working, 
neither in linux, nor in u-boot. I used u-boot from friendlyarm download.

Any hints?

it works, I used a uplink port of the switch ;-(
