Burning Linux kernel

Hi...
i am installing Linux on my Ok6410 board which came with winCE installed on
it using the manual:

i am currently at the step '3.2 Burning Linux Kernel'. however when i
restart the board after setting it to boot from NAND, dnw does not detect
the USB i.e it shows [USB:x] and though i type from my keyboard but nothing
shows in the dnw window.

if anyone has idea, what point i am missing or there is some other way to
do it...please help
