Linux Images from Download page

Martin Breidung
Hi all,

beginner question:

On the Download Page are some images for the Mini2440.

The format is *.img.

I'm interested to use the Qtopia 2.2.0 + QT4 image as NFS Root.

What is the format of these images?
I did not succeed in mounting the image or flashing to my Mini2440.

How can i solve this?

Thanks!

Martin

Hi,

The img files can be loaded to your board with DNW (if your host computer
runs Windows) or usbpush (if your host computer runs Linux). Just put S2
switch to NOR position, then select 'r' if I remember correctly. Then on
the host computer, send the image file with the correct tool.

Thank you for your answer!

ok, obviously the images are full backups of the nand. This is the reason
why i have not any chance to mount them in the usual way.

Flashing the images would destroy u-boot i think.

Is there any possibility to extract the root fs from them?

Thanks!

I have no idea on how tou extract the rootfs from the image. I'm not sure
it's possible to jump to the correct offset and mount the rootfs. The
easiest way I found was to make an image of my flash, then flash the whole
image, create a tar file of the rootfs, or copy it to a NFS server. Then I
restored the original flash state.

I hope this helps
