Hi, I have a Mini2440 board, I have hooked up the USB cable and the RS232 cable to my computer. For the serial connection I have used a straight-through cable with on both ends male connectors with converters to female to female. I start hyper terminal and connect it with the following settings: bits per second: 115200 Data bits: 8 Parity: None Stop bits: 1 Flow control: no I start the board and I get the menu. But when I pres a key nothing happens. No character appears in Hyperterminal no sign of response from the board. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? - Jaap
Mini2440 Hyperterminal readonly
Hi Jaap (sounds dutch..) Disconnect the serial cable at the side of mini2440. Make a short circuit between pin 2 and 3. Start Hyperterminal and press any key. If it appears on your screen, cable and comport from PC are OK. Kind regards Luc
Hi Luc, Yes I am Dutch. Thank you, but just to be sure, I should short the pins on the board or the computer side? - Jaap
Hello Luc, I got it it was the cable, I witched it with a regular male-female serial cable and a converter at the male side. Thanks!
Hi I have bought micro2440 recently. i had faced the same problem with serial port but it was responded with different characters for each key hitting. I assumed that it was problem with rs232 transceiver chip, I have bypassed the rs232 (ttl pins given on board) through another max232 chip (not on board). Now i am getting exact response from serial port on the board. May be your board also having same problem with level transitions (rs232 levels). thanks, raj
Just had the same issue here. The solution, for me, was to turn off hardware flow control in minicom. Had to hunt a bit: it's not in the comms parameters but under "Configure minicom" then "Serial port setup".
