Dear all, I am doing a project on Wireless multimedia streaming using SRTP protocol. My project is to stream video to android phones using wifi securely using SRTP(secure real time transmission protocol). The arm board will stream this video. I have following doubts. 1.Is it possible using using Mini2440 board and android or linux ? 2.On which os this implementation will be easy linux or android ? 3. Do u want to suggest any other board ? Plz. Help me regarding this. Thanks in advanced.
Help for project
Android is also linux. The mini2440 doesn't have a wifi module on board. our best option would be to get a Wifi USB stick which has a decent support in the linux kernel community. Maybe you should check out Gumstix project or the beagle board. But if you already have the mini2440, a good place to start is http://www.ptxdist.org/oselas/bsp/pengutronix/mini2440_bsp_en.html/ this BSP lets you compile a linux kernel and write application for the mini2440 as linux applications. Its pretty easy to set up and use, once you've got that up and running, i guess its a pretty simple matter to google a bit and get the wifi working on the board. I've not done it (no wifi stick).
@ Andre i have following doubts : which libraries should be used for streaming if i am using android as OS ? will you please give me some more details about Wi-fi module you used ? @ Andre & Wingz : thank you very much
I use a USB wifi, that I got from ebay a while back, then I configure the kernel for that USB wifi module, but I didnt use android I use qtopia with mjpeg streamer application
RA-Link USB stick WN321n is $9.99 typical and is supported by the Linux. It uses a bit of firmware called r73.bin IIRC. Works great. ARMWorks used to sell them until they became available everywhere, including amazon.com.
