Hi, Need to integrate WiFi (min 5mbps) on mini2440. Would prefer not to block the USB port, so I guess usb wifi dongles are out. Got some other USB devices to use with the 2440. The WiFi modules (SPI/SDIO/UART i'face based) available, seem to be at-least $35 (for 20units or more). However, it is strange that for about same (or bit less), I can buy a wireless-router these days, at single-unit retail. I must be missing something here!!! Oh did I say that I have a MediaTek chipset based Shenzai phone with both GSM and WiFi module capabilities, bought retail, for just a little more :-) Of course, these people buy in 10k unit volumes (or more, I am guessing), but still, the WiFi module prices don't seem to make sense. I did find some 2.4GHz transceivers with inbuilt 8051 MCU & ADC, available for about $3, but I think we are missing the entire WiFi stack. Anyhow, given the typical BOM (as evident from some teardown reports), such a module should be available in $15 range, but I find nothing of that sort. ~Icarus.
Any low-cost (sub $15-20) wifi module for mini2440
Oh and BTW, I am looking for a module that can support master-mode operation, i.e. be capable of acting base-station/access-point.
If you can't use a usb-hub + usb wifi dongle, maybe something like: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/portable-usb2-0-2-4ghz-54mbps-802-11b-g-wir...
Please note that, in my experience, DealExtreme sells/gives your email address out to spammers... A family member asked me to buy them a wrist watch from DealExtreme and for the next year I got spammed by other watch shops.

Hi Icarus, Recently I found that Whiznets has launched a WiFi module which supports both station and AP mode. You can go through the link below: http://www.prweb.com/releases/WiFiSoftAPMode/WhiznetsEmbeddedM2M/prweb95... It might fulfill your requirement. Paul
