Hi mindee... I have tried to connect with some different kinds of USB modules, and with TL-WN721N I haven't sucess... To use the USB WiFi Kits, you need the new kernel The latest Linux kernel source code: http://arm9download.cncncn.com/mini2440/linux/linux-2.6.32.2-mini2440-20... And the binary files: http://arm9download.cncncn.com/mini2440/mini2440-linux-images-20100729.zip Please try. Mindee
Mindee do you have another mirror to the binary files? I'm in Brazil and the download speed is 4kb/s! :S Thanks
hello, has anybody successed to use TL-WN721N on mini2440? I'm also trying to download a kernel but with the kernel on friendlyarm-downloads it doesn't work. I hope it works with 'Mindee's link. It's downloading with 7kb/sec. Still no more mirrors? thanks.
hello, Thanks Viecelli, i've downloaded with DAP, i refreshed the kernel and qtopia rootfs but my TL-WN721N still doesn't work. Only, it doesn't give these long error lines, it only says; "ifconfig: SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device 0 Access Point Found" I guess this driver support doesn't cover TL-WN721N, does it? Anyone made it work?
hi, yigitalp please try with a longer usb extension cable, or use TL-WN722N which can search more WiFi spot. I will post a picture later.
mindee, my device's model is VNT6656AU. When i enter with "scan-wifi" only says: "ifconfig: SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device 0 Access Point Found" What can i do now? Thanks
yigitalp: I have this problem, and isn't solved... The driver for TL-WN721N isn't OK... the error: "SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device" occurs when the device wasn't acknowledged... the firmware wasn't carregado... When you plug a device that have a driver, the kernel replies like: Loading rt73.bin ... :D I'll wait for a kernel with the correct driver... Thanks
hi, here is the snapshot of my mini2440 with USB WiFi: mini2440 + TL-WN722N http://arm9download.cncncn.com/mini2440/usb-wifi/mini2440-TL-WN722N.jpg mini2440 + TL-WN721N http://arm9download.cncncn.com/mini2440/usb-wifi/mini2440-TL-WN721N.jpg mindee
and here is the linux version I use: http://arm9download.cncncn.com/mini2440/usb-wifi/mini2440-linux-version.jpg
Hi again Mindee, So, I don't got success with TL-WN721N.. I downloaded the latest version of the kernel that you post here, and I will cross-compile, I will to lunch, and upload on my board... in a few hours I reply on forum.. Thanks... ^^
Help me Mindee, See: [root@FriendlyARM /home]# scan-wifi ifconfig: SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device 0 Access Point Found [root@FriendlyARM /home]# cat /proc/version Linux version 2.6.32.2-FriendlyARM (root@russell-work-pc) (gcc version 4.4.3 (ctng-1.6.1) ) #3 Wed Jul 28 16:44:54 CST 2010 My USB WiFi module: http://www.friendlyarm.net/products/accessories

I found that link that writes how to compile for the micro2440 + emdebian a TL-WN321Gv4 driver. The link is in Thai but by Google Translate I could understand most of it. My problem is how to cross compile this for the standard FriendlyArm 2.6.32.2 or 2.6.29. kernel. We have a stock of 80 v4 dongles that we need to get to work and deliver. The link is http://www.electoday.com/bbs/archiver/?tid-10317.html. Any help on this or getting the v4 to work in a different manner would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi mindee, I can't download by http://arm9download.cncncn.com/download/usb-wifi-kits-for-mini2440-linux... Is there any problem with this link?
http://www.friendlyarm.net/downloads -> Linux
I installed everything, and did start-wifi with the credintials but it just says: udhcpc (v1.13.1) started sending discover... sending discover... sending discover... sending discover... sending discover... and repeats any suggestions?

Is possible that in the last friendlyarm kernel (2.6.32.2 - 2011-04-13) there's not ATH9K tag ???? see ---> http://www.friendlyarm.net/forum/topic/3166
@dlk289 I also followed the procedure: 1. scan-wifi 2. start-wifi wep ssid pass but I realized that it immediately starts udhcpc, which is a dhcp client app, that by default takes eth0 as interface... sending discover packets through ethernet would take a long long time to get WLAN IP address :D A slightly longer, but easier approach is to perform the following (for WEP, but I guess for WPA would be similar): 1. scan-wifi (sometimes it takes a few retries, until sees Access Point). 2. iwconfig (see what interface name is assigned to your wifi dongle). 3. iwconfig wlan0 mode managed 4. iwconfig wlan0 key restricted <KEY OR PASSWORD> 5. iwconfig wlan0 essid <ACCESS POINT NAME> 6. ifconfig wlan0 up 7. udhcpc -iwlan0 And right away it will assign you an IP address... You can also modify /usr/share/udhcpc/default.script to perform dhcp discover also on wifi, but under your own risk. Regards...
Forgot one thing: just after step scan-wifi, you need to either remove eth0 interface with #ifconfig eth0 down or remove default route #route del default Hope it helps you. Regards
