Hi to every one. My concern is about if it is safe to base a new design on the Mini2440. All of us have could see the new Mini6410 board, which seems to be a terrefic product but its price is higher than Mini2440 and could be an overkill for certain applications. Up to now, there is no notice about plans to discontinue the Mini2440, but I searched on the Sansung ARM9 processors page and the only one whose Production Status doesn´t show as "Mass Production" is the S3C2440. http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/productList.do?fmly... Some one is well informed about my concern? Thanks for reading and best regards.
About Mini2440's life expectancy as a product.
HI Ferite, I'm not sure but recently came to know that mini2440 production is going to stop and more over it is better if you can contact friendlyarm.net as well samsung , if you placing a bulk order then thy might assure you of product as active even for futher support.
Actually I was told by our distributor that we can expect some years more, having Mini2440 availables. Of course, it would be helpfull if some one of the FriendlyARM staff could clarify this better. So, Mindee if you read this please help us with this question. Thanks.
Hi, Ferite the mini2440 would not be stopped except Samsung would stop the chip, but maybe have a change or improvement in the future. and Mini6410 is in a fast updating now. So I think no hardware change on mini2440 in months. it's well known and with many open source software, no one would like to give it up. regards mindee
