Working USB setup.exe

Mark
Hi,

Does anyone have a version of the "FriendlyARM USB Download Driver Setup"

usb-downloaddr-setup_20090421.exe file

that installs a working USB drive for WinXP sp3. I have tried both the one
that came on my CD and the one on the forum download page both tell me I
have an Unknown USB device with no driver installed. If I understood
chinese I might know what error if any I get during the install process,
unfortunately I don't. I want to download some code but it appears
necessary to have a working USB connection before you can do anything else.
I have the console serial port and ethernet connections working fine hooked
up to Windows or Linux on my desktop.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I am looking to eventually port ECOS on to this board.

Did you try to install the driver manually?
Here are the driver/inf files:

Thanks Rob,

But when I do the install it never even asks for the location of the config
files. Do they need to be in some particular location I put them in the
same location as the setup.exe. I'll see if can get hold of the English
manual and see what that says.

Well it's working now. Rebooted the Mini into NOR mode with the USB cable
connected to the PC and the dnw utility up and running. When the new
hardware prompt came up ignored that and manually ran the "FriendlyARM USB
Download Driver Setup"
and it worked fine, so don't quite understand why it failed before but it's
working now, so if anybody else has difficulties these are exact steps I
took. I used the setup program from the CD and config files from ROB.

cheers

Okay now I see the problem, seems at least with XP I need the mini booted
into NOR and not running an OS for it to recognise the presence of the
device USB port. Not quite what it says in the manual but not an
insurmountable problem.

That's all correct:
http://www.friendlyarm.net/dl.php?file=download.pdf
Page 4: Using DNW -> Linux download -> 4. and 5.
...
4. Set the boot mode switch (S2) to NOR while the board is off.
5. Power on the board.
The bootloader menu appears and DNW shows the USB connection [USB:OK]
...

Yes, for downloading but just for installing the USB driver somewhere in
the manual it says that you don't even need to have the board connected to
the PC to install the USB Download driver.
Anyway it's working what I really want to do is download from Linux Fedora
but I seem to have different usb include files than Android so that may
take a bit more time. Since the USB port didn't even show up in my /dev
directory I wanted to check that there wasn't a problem with my USB ports.
The Universal Serial Bus doesn't seem quite as Universal as my definition
if you need to load a different device driver for each type of USB device
to even get the Host to recognise that a device is plugged in. Of course
i'd never learn anything if I didn't have to think occasionally. :)
