yopo
Cool,

could it be capable to play video better than Mini2440??

See you!!
Leo

mindee
yes, s3c6410 is better more than s3c2440 on multimedia codec.
but mini6410 has only linux driver for it now.
all need improve in the future.

A gigabit UTP could be very interesting. Why just include LAN 100?

With a minipcie slot, this LAN speed could be supported... not?

Phil_in_China
I just got my 6410 today, seems a nice piece of kit, not
had much chance to play around with it yet.

max2440
Hi
Does this board have English User Manual. Frrom where can i buy this
board.

Phil_in_China
No it does not have an English Manual, just Chinese. I purchased mine in
China, not sure when they will be available in Europe or USA.
But first impressions are that it's a good product with some interesting
software, boot is from NAND or SD as there is not any NOR memory.

max2440
Hi Phil
I just sent a mail to Friendlyarm they replied that they do have
English Manual.

Phil_in_China
Well that's good news for me, on the DVD supplied was only the Chinese
manual. I will try and get a copy then let you know.

Puma
Hi,

I'm planning to get one to play with it. Is the NAND Flash already 1G or
256MB onboard? How much it cost with 7" LCD?

Thanks,
Puma

1. Here is some file for mini6410

dvd-iso: http://arm9download.cncncn.com/mini6410/mini6410-201006292.iso
(3.96GB)
binary file: http://arm9download.cncncn.com/mini6410/images-20100629.zip
(640MB)
sd-flasher.exe: http://arm9download.cncncn.com/mini6410/SD-Flasher.zip
(4.91MB)

and here is the simple guide to install with the above files:
1. Get a blank SD card, and burn "Superboot.bin" into it with
SD-Flasher.exe
2. copy the DVD "images" folder into SD card
3. In the file "images\FriendlyARM.ini", Change the "OS=" to what you want,
can be "linux" or "wince6" or "android", and save it.
4. Switch S2 to "SDBOOT" side, plug the SD card into Mini6410, and power
on.
5. See the 4-LED or hear the Buzzer, when it flash in loop or after
"Di-Di", that is done.
6. Swich S2 to "nand" side, reboot and enjoy it!
If you just try to run OS in SD card (not install), change the
“Action=Install” to “Action=run”.

FriendlyARM.ini is easy to understand, here is the content:

if you used mini2440 before, the USB download method is same with
supervivi. no need to change the DNW.exe, no need to update USB driver.

max6410
Does anybody know from where to buy this board.

Thank you

Phil_in_China
At the moment it seems they are only stocked in China, email
me and I will see if I can put you in touch with a local supplier
my email is: phil_in_china@yahoo.com

Hi mindee,

I tried SD-Flasher.exe but I can not find any disk. I tried with a blank
4GB SD card connected to my desktop and I tried with the mini 6410
conencted by USB to me desktop and with the SD card in the board slot.
The SD is blank (formeted FAT32).
I'm trying to guess what is written in the manual, but I can not read
chinese...
How did you burn superboot? Was the SD connected on a host PC or on the
board 6410 and the board connected through USB to the PC?
Please help... :-)

Regards
Paolo

Phil_in_China
Hi paolo

You connect the the SD to the host PC, I also had a little trouble getting
the SD-Flasher.exe to recognize the SD. But one PC did, so then I burnt
superboot and then copied the images folder to the SD. When its done its
very good. Maybe if you have a problem try another PC.

Phil

paolo
Hi Phil,

thank you for your answer, I'll try with another PC then.

Regards,
Paolo

paolo
It's working!!!
Using Sd-Flasher I burnt the bootloader and I tried:
Linux
Windows CE6
Ubuntu
Android

Great!

I'll put some nice video on YouTube of the board

Thanks
Paolo

Phil_in_China
Hey Paolo

Glad you got it running, I do like Ubuntu it's a
cool board. Hope to get more free time next week
to give it a full testing.

Phil

puma
Hi Paolo, Phil,

It's nice if you can make a tutorial on how it's being done.

Thanks,
Puma

saas
Can this devlopment board be used in image processing or vedio processing?

paolo
@puma
I will prepare some tutorial. I just need some time to discover the board
Bye

clemente
Hello to all,
how big is the RAM?
128Mbyte or 64MByte?

Is there anybody who can send to me some information about the RAM
installed?

TIA

Clemente.

yopo
Hi Clemente,

http://www.friendlyarm.net/products/mini6410

See you!

clemente
@yopo
thnaks you very much.
But: have you something like the linux boot messages? Or other "live" (I
mean from the board) infomation about the RAM?

Thanks again!
Clemente.

paolo
Hi all,

has someone compiled applications for the Mini 6410? Have you used the gcc
arm 4.1.1 ?

Thanks
Paolo

Jay
Does this board have a real math FPU (maybe included within the processor)?
Because it would be better in performance if we don't need to use the
software emulated one (for e.g. graphics processing, calculations, ...) ;)

mindee
Hi Jay

No real math FPU, still software emulated, but 6410 has the hardware
graphic processor, such as 2d/3d, and images flip/rotate, jpeg codec, multi
format video codec, etc.

Mindee

Jay
@Mindee: thats fine - thank you for the information :)
I think the 6410 is best for media center applications then (e.g. tv
recieving/recording (e.g. dvb-t usb stick), dvd playing (external usb dvd
device), etc.). Maybe I will buy this in near future (hopefully it will be
available in eBay for long time).

fatih
I wanted to make some minor additions to mindee's explanations on booting
from SD card:

here is the simple guide to install with the above files:
1. Get a blank SD card, and burn "Superboot.bin" into it with
SD-Flasher.exe

 * You should run SD-Flasher.exe as administrator. To do this just right
click the exe and then click "Run as administrator"
 * You will use the SD card with your PC, it will not be attached to the
Mini6410 board.
 * For SD-Flasher to detect your SD card, the card should be formatted as
FAT32
 * After formating SD card; run SD-Flasher.exe as administrator; choose
superboot.bin file as the "Image file to fuse..."; click Scan button; your
card should appear in SD Drive(s); look at "Available" tab of SD Drive(s)
section; if Available is no then you should first ReLayout! the card using
ReLayout! button; after relayouting, finally you will now click on Fuse
botton. and now you are ready to copy images folder to the card.

2. copy the DVD "images" folder into SD card

 * There should be a single "images" folder in the SD card. In the images
folder there will be FriendlyARM.ini and folders for different operating
systems of your choice.

 * If you choose "Action=run", your OS will directly start without needing
to switch S2 to nand side.

max2440
I checked on all Site for some info on Mini6410 Drivers. No one has given
any Info on what are the drivers provided i mean they only mention the
hardware dertails but no one mentions about the drivers for the those
hardware like IR receiver, Tv output, and the extra serial interface which
are new on Mini6410.

If anyone can let me know, What are the drivers suuport for MINI6410 it'll
be great.Does Mini6410 work with 7"lcd that comes with micro2440.

Thank you.

mindee
for drivers, you can have a look here:
http://www.arm9.net/mini6410-linux.asp
it's very easy to find it, go to www.arm9.net, click "mini6410", then click
"linux".
if you want to know windowsce6, just click it too.
